Top Sailing Destination: Korčula

The island of Korčula has a long history, as it was once a Greek settlement. It has interesting art and cultural attractions and is probably most famous for being the birthplace of Marco Polo. In the old city of Korčula you can visit his birth house. The Moreška dance is the second most popular cultural attraction of the island. It is a traditional sword dance, one of the oldest in Europe still performed, which is held on a weekly basis during summer. The dance presents a mock battle for a young woman between white and black swordsmen. Korčula is a top sailing spot due to its amazing natural beauties, being one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic and having many beautiful secluded bays and beaches.

Top Sailing Destination: Mljet

According to a legend, Mljet is in fact the island of Ogygia where the nymph Calypso held Odysseus for seven years. This top sailing destination in Croatia is mostly covered in forest and one third of the island was declared a national park in 1960. The park includes two inland salt water lakes - Malo Jezero (Small Lake) and Veliko Jezero (Great Lake). In the middle of the Great Lake lies a small island of St. Mary with an old Benedictine monastery and a church from the 12th century. The Mljet national park is home to many rare and endemic species. The crystal clear sea and many hours of sunshine make Mljet a true paradise in the Mediterranean and a one of the top Croatian sailing spots for many sailing enthusiasts.
